THE PAPER MODEL
Height: 24 cm/9.4 in
Width: 15.3 cm/ 6.0 in
Depth: 8.6 cm/3.4 in
No. of Pages: 5
No. of Pieces: 69
Level: Hard
Designer: POdragon

NOTES: Since we, at Paperpokés, don't envision ourselves being around for the next twelve years, we thought that we would complete the Chinese Astrology series (that we began last month with Growlithe) by publishing one Zodiac Pokémon per month. 2011 is the year of the rabbit.

This model IS hard in certain places - the bumps and lumps that make up the puffs on the ears and around the lower part of the body are tricky, and referring to the .PDO is essential. Build by numbers, and try not to loose your patience. Glue head onto completed body, and then place it in a stable standing position on the completed feet.

PIKACHU-COLORED and SPIKY-EARED PICHU

172 / SPIKY-EARED PICHU - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Pichu
Type: Electric
Species: Tiny Mouse Pokémon
Height: 0.3 m (1′00″)
Weight: 2.0 kg (4.0 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Spiky-eared Pichu (also known as Notched-ear Pichu) is obtainable in HeartGold/SoulSilver only if you go to the Ilex Forest Shrine whith the special Pikachu-colored Pichu in your team. It'll jump from behind the shrine and join you at level 30, female, with the moves Volt Tackle, Helping Hand, Swagger and Pain Split. If taken to Professor Elm, it is revealed that she has travelled through time with Celebi. He adds that the reason it cannot evolve is because she has been time travelling for so long. He will then call all the Pokémon Center attendants to prevent Spiky-Eared Pichu from being used in trades.

THE PAPER MODEL
Height: 15 cm/5.9 in
Width: 18,7 cm/ 7.4 in
Depth: 11 cm/4.3 in
No. of Pages: 3
No. of Pieces: 27
Level: Medium
Designer: Brandon/Lyrin
Photo: Lyrin
NOTES: The model isn't difficult to build overall. The only challenging parts are the arms and the tiny thumbs. I suggest you to use tweezers for holding the thumbs tabs while they glue. As usual, follow the numbers on the template, and use the .pdo as reference (recommended). The ear-spike is optional: you'll have to build the left ear first, then assemble the spike, fold its tabs inside it, and then glue it on top of the ear. I've included shiny textures even if Spiky-eared Pichu hasn't a shiny version ingame. I did so in case someone wanted to build a simple shiny Pichu (leaving out the ear-spike).

SKIPLOOM (Happy St. Patrick's Day!)

188 / SKIPLOOM - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Skiploom
Type: Grass / Flying
Species: Cottonweed Pokémon
Height: 0.6 m (2'00")
Weight: 1.0 kg (2.2 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Much like Hoppip, Skiploom needs a gust of wind to get itself airborne. It flies using its flower as a propeller. The bloom on top of its head open and closes as the temperature fluctuates up and down and its flower blossoms when the temperature rises above 64°F (18°C). Because of this it is sometimes used as a thermometer. Skiploom spreads its petals to absorb as much sunlight as possible. It also floats in the air to try to get closer to the sun. When it rains, this Pokémon closes its flower and immediately hides under the shade of a tree to avoid getting wet. It evolves from Hoppip starting at level 18, and evolves into Jumpluff starting at level 27.

THE PAPER MODEL
Height: 13.9 cm/5.6 in
Width: 21.0 cm/ 8.3 in
Depth: 17.7 cm/7.0 in
No. of Pages: 8
No. of Pieces: 28
Level: Medium
Designer: PMF

NOTES: Join each of the body pieces together from the top of the head downward, inserting in ears, arms and tail as you go. Close body at the bottom and then glue body onto feet. Use stick glue to attach top-side and bottom-side of each petal - this ensures that there is no bubbling/wrinkling of the paper. Then gently curl the double-sided petals around the edge of a table, before attaching it to the center part of the flower - bending the petal upwards at that center tab-join.

WHISMUR (500 000 visitors!)

293 / WHISMUR - Pokémon Papercraft
Name:
Whismur
Type: Normal
Species: Whisper Pokémon
Height: 0.6 m (2'00")

Interesting Facts: Normally Whismur make murmurs that are only barely audible. They scare very easily, and often use their shrill cries to try and scare off other wild Pokémon. It can shriek at the same volume as a jet plane. Once it screams, its own cries scare it into crying harder, eventually exhausting itself to sleep. Due to breathing through its ear canals, it has no need to breathe and thus can cry continually. For this reason, it stops screaming if its ear covers are shut. Whismur appears to have three holes, one beneath its ears and one on its tail. It evolves into Lourdred starting at level 20, who evolves into Exploud starting at level 40.
