10 June 2012

Dear fellow papercrafters,

As we’re sure a few of you have noticed lately, model posting has kind of slowed below the expected schedule that we have kept since the start. A lot has been going around in our lives and the situation has led the team to be a little low on time, organization and even will to go on lately... And sadly, after talking together, we came to the conclusion that it won't be changing any time soon.

Thus, after mutual agreement, we decided that we are not going to post models regularly anymore and also decided to take a break for a little while. We can tell you that there will be new models, just not when or how many. Of course, models already on the site will stay up and still be accessible.

When we started Paperpokés, we were a bunch of friends who decided to get together and create things solely for the pure enjoyment of making Pokémon papercraft models. As sad as it can sound, a while ago we lost track of those simple reasons and started to view it not as a hobby, but as a job, where we had to produce new stuff before each deadlines even when we didn’t feel like it. This situation pretty much made each of us lose interest in making papercrafts one by one…

Thank you everyone who encouraged us and followed us every Monday. We appreciate all of that and everyone who gave us the push to keep going for as long as we did. Without some support and encouragement, we wouldn't have even made it this far.

However, as we said, sometimes the responsibility is too much, and we can't manage it. It was fun while it lasted, and it did indeed last for a long time (4 years in December) but everything must come to an end.

We're just sorry it was so soon and abrupt.

110 / WEEZING - Pokémon Papercraft
Name: Weezing
Type: Poison
Species: Poison Gas Pokémon
Height: 1.2 m (3′11″)
Weight: 9.5 kg (20.9 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: It has been explicitly stated that Koffing, Weezing's pre-evolution, is able to hover in midair due to its gases being lighter than air. Although the same has never been explicitly stated for Weezing, it can be assumed that this is the case, as Weezing displays an ability to float in midair seemingly identical to Koffing's ability. It is, however, a known fact that a Weezing's gases are less dense than water, enabling it to float on the surface of water effortlessly, although this also means that Weezing is essentially unable to spend any amount of time underwater.

045 / VILEPLUME - Pokémon Papercraft
Name: Vileplume
Type: Grass/Poison
Species: Flower Pokémon
Height: 1.2 m (3′11″)
Weight: 18.6 kg (41.0 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Vileplume has a Prussian blue-colored, bipedal body like its pre-evolutions, but has changed in that it now has a much larger "flower" on its head. This "flower" is slightly different from Gloom's flower, although it still resembles a rafflesia flower. Vileplume are said to have the largest petals in the world, and they contribute to a large percentage of their height. The size of the petals in relation to the rest of the body make Vileplume very sheltered from the sun, as the petals almost act as a sun visor.

Type: Poison
Species: Sludge Pokémon
Height: 1.2 m (3′11″)
Weight: 30.0 kg (66.1 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: The toxicity of Muk's form has reached the point where a single drop of it can make an entire lake stagnant and rancid. Its footprints are toxic enough for a person to contract influenza if they are touched. Their infamous stench increases in the summertime, due to the toxic substances in its body intensifying. Their ability to exist in the environment without it becoming completely hazardous to other lifeforms may be attributed to their ability to actively control their toxins, as they would likely never want to deliberately pollute a river or spread any harmful diseases.

EMPOLEON

395 / EMPOLEON - Pokémon Papercraft
Name: Empoleon
Type: Water/Steel
Species: Emperor Pokémon
Height: 1.7 m (5′07″)
Weight: 84.5 kg (186.3 lbs.)
Interesting Facts: Empoleon is a large penguin-like Pokémon. In terms of color, it has a closer resemblance to a "real-world" penguin than its pre-evolved forms have because it is mostly black or navy blue as opposed to being a light blue. Its feet actually appear to have webbing on them. Its wings are tipped with blue metal and have three golden claws sticking out at the bottom. It has a short, blue, metal "fin" sticking out of its back and another "fin" that's on the front of its body that extends to where its chin would be then splits to form a sort of collar. This "collar" is probably because real penguins are said to be wearing "tuxedos," due to their black and white appearance. If one looks at Empoleon, it has a tie like fin in the middle of its belly, and the collar coming off it, this relates to the "tuxedo" of a penguin.
